Bill fell in love with sailing as a young kid in Norwalk, CT, where he first set sail on his friend’s 14′ Blue Jay. This early passion for the sea propelled him into a lifelong journey of boating, culminating in the ownership of various vessels ranging from 19′ to 40′. Over the years, Bill has proudly competed in esteemed events such as Block Island Race Weeks, Key West Race Weeks, the Larchmont Fall Series, the Southern Racing Circuit, and the Heineken Regattas, enjoying these adventures alongside close friends and family.
With over 35 years in the marine industry, Bill holds a USCG 100 Ton Master License with both Towing and Sailing Endorsements. In 1997, he opened Wm. J. Kolkmeyer Yachts, where he has since dedicated his career to helping clients find the “right boat.” His commitment to client satisfaction is evident, with many returning for multiple transactions—one client alone has completed 14 deals with him.
When he’s not in the office or out showing boats, you’ll likely find Bill adhering to Rule 90 – “Have Fun” – whether fishing or sailing with his six grandkids, just enjoying quality time on the water.

Steve Garrett, Yacht Broker
Steve Garrett’s lifelong passion for boating began during his childhood on Long Island Sound,
where he grew up sailing Sunfishes and exploring the waters aboard his family’s many boats.
These early adventures instilled a deep love for the sea and the joy of maritime exploration.
After attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Steve and a group of friends took
on the ambitious project of rehabilitating a 1969 32-foot Grand Banks which he named
“GRAND SCHEME.” Their hard work paid off as they embarked on an unforgettable six-month
journey to the Bahamas, immersing themselves in the islands’ beauty and vibrant boating culture.
Steve joined William J Kolkmeyer Yachts, llc in 2004 and is now a CPYB (Certified Professional Yacht Broker). Steve combines his lifelong experience on
the water with a commitment to helping clients navigate their own maritime dreams. Whether
